Winemaker's Gourmet Wine Tasting Dinner
May 16, 2008
The
third Friday of every month we hold a four course, four wines, gourmet wine
tasting dinner at the winery. These dinners feature American and
International gourmet food coupled with wines selected from our cellars and
other domestic or international producers. Each dinner includes a brief
discussion on how to taste wine and is an opportunity to visit with our
winemaker Ulf Westblom.
Each month has a different theme for the food. Our inaugural dinner in July of last year featured Southwestern American food. Since then we have had a multitude of International cuisine including French food, Italian food, German food, Scandinavian food, Greek food, and Spanish food. In February we had our most highly rated dinner when we served Roman food from a cook book with 2,000 years old recipes from ancient Rome (including items served by Julius Ceasar when he was entertaining). In May the theme will be California Cuisine. If you are familiar with the food scene in California you know that their food is very similar to Mediterranean food, but with an emphasis on freshness and crispness. California cuisine has plenty of crisp vegetables and fruits and the meats are lighter, like chicken, duck and tuna, rather than heavy red meats.
We will start the evening with a champagne (out in the vineyard) and follow with three other wines (including the Harrison Plantation Port with the dessert). If you are interested in this dinner, please call the winery and reserve your seat. Every one of these dinners have been sold out a month or two in advance. The price for this four course, four wines, gourmet dinner is only $55 per person. If you want to join us on May 16th, please call (254) 875-2375 and secure your seat with your credit card.

TCV Winery featured on Waco Tribune's Photo Gallery
On Saturday April 5th, 2008, we released the first Sherry produced in Central Texas. It is called Flamenco in honor of its Spanish counterparts. On the day of release we featured live Flamenco music and dancing inside the winery building. We were visited by the famous Del Espadin Flamenco and Spanish Dance Group from Houston. We had a great turn out with standing room only inside the winery building. Media was here and Waco Tribune Herald put a 50 photo gallery presentation on their web site.
